Digestible tags from Kodak to ensure proper diagnosis

I had never thought that one day we would have edible RFID tags but Kodak has made this a reality. Kodak has developed digestible tags which when swallowed don't cause any harm to the human body. These tags are quite delicate and have been coated with soft gelatin therefore it takes some time before they get dissolved. After consuming it all the patient needs to do is sit near a radio source and receiver for monitoring the digestive tract.

When exposed to gastric acid the tag stops functioning for a period of time ensuring that the digestive tract of the patient is monitored in a subtle manner. Besides the digestive tract these digestible tags can also be fitted in the hip joint or knee and give a warning if further surgery is required. These tags could also be attached to medicines thereby informing the nurse whether it has been taken by the patient or not.

These tags will certainly help the medical fraternity to reach those areas of the body where previously access was not possible. A proper diagnosis will surely be possible as a result of these tags and you never know it might be able to detect various types of cancer affecting the human body. Probably RFID has a lot more to offer to the medical field!!
