Tag results for RFID: Maine Leads States to Oppose Real ID Act of 2005
Due to the Real ID Act of 2005, all driver’s licenses issued nationwide will have the RFID technology embedded effective 2008. Not every American realizes that. Anyone who fails to apply for and receive his/her state-issued new driver’s license or renewal in 2008, or state-issued ID card will be unable to open a bank account, enter a Federal building, or travel by plane — our once inalienable rights as individuals.
And it will only become worse when currency/cash is deemed obsolete and all is processed through your Real ID. If you don’t believe that, ask yourself how dependent you have become on your credit/debit card, and when was the last time you wrote a check. Uh-huh, that’s right. It’s kind of sneaked up on us. In the not-so-distant future, no card, no rights. That means no drawing Social Security, no even getting a job, no travel, no bank account, no holding public office, no money…the list goes on.
Does anyone else find it extremely ironic that America is leading this technology and legislation? We, once the champions of freedom and democracy, and individual rights? Does no one understand that this Real ID Act of 2005 is the precursor for our all accepting the technology of the implantable microchip when the card proves to be insecure and identity theft abounds? There will be no turning back if we accept this Real ID card at the DMV in 2008.
